About The Position

We are seeking a Registered Nurse for a 3x12 NIGHTS contract position on a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit. This is a 13-week contract requiring the nurse to work every other weekend. The unit handles complex care for Medicine, ortho overflow, and complex long-term patients. The nurse must be proficient in EPIC charting and able to manage a patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:7. Float to other units may be required. This position requires the nurse to have their NY license in hand and BLS and NIHSS certifications. First-time travelers are accepted, but locals (within 75 miles) are not.

Requirements

  • Active NY State RN License
  • Minimum of 2 years of RN experience
  • Proficiency in EPIC charting
  • Experience with MS/Tele and telemetry monitoring
  • Experience with Rapid Response/Code teams
  • Experience with Pacemakers/Temporary/Permanent
  • Experience with Feeding tube care and management
  • Experience with Blood Product Administration
  • Experience with Central line care/management
  • Experience with Phlebotomy
  • Experience with Peripheral Line Care/Management
  • Experience with PICC line management
  • Experience Starting IVs
  • Experience with Heparin Protocols
  • Experience with Ortho trauma
  • Experience with Total Joint Replacements
  • Experience with Surgical drains
  • Experience with High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
  • Experience with Nasal Cannula
  • Experience with Oxygen face masks
  • Experience with Portable Oxygen tank
  • Experience with Tracheostomy Management
  • Experience with Isolation Precautions
  • Experience with Wound Care/Wound Vac
  • BLS certification
  • NIHSS certification
  • Ability to take a 1:5 to 1:7 patient ratio
  • Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care on a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit.
  • Monitor telemetry readings and manage cardiac rhythms.
  • Utilize Rapid Response/Code teams when necessary.
  • Administer medications and treatments, including blood products.
  • Manage central lines, peripheral lines, and PICC lines.
  • Perform phlebotomy and start IVs.
  • Care for patients with complex medical conditions, including ortho trauma and total joint replacements.
  • Manage feeding tubes, pacemakers, and tracheostomies.
  • Administer oxygen therapy, including High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC).
  • Implement and manage isolation precautions and wound care, including Wound Vacs.
  • Float to other units as needed.
  • Document patient care accurately in EPIC.
