About The Position

This is a 36-hour per week position for a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse. The unit has an average daily census of 34 patients across 48 rooms/beds. The surgical focus is on orthopedics and joints, including total knee replacement, total hip replacement, spinal fusions, hip fractures, ortho trauma, and occasional medical overflow. The nurse will be responsible for cardiac monitoring, emergency response, IV therapy/phlebotomy, and respiratory management. The position requires adherence to isolation precautions and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The nurse must be proficient in using Pyxis and EPIC systems. This is a 13-week assignment with a requirement for every other weekend work. Call is not required, but the nurse must be willing to float if census drops. Candidates must pass EKG testing prior to start.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Medical-Surgical/Orthopedics.
• Experience with MS/Tele Cardiac Monitoring.
• Experience with Emergency Response.
• Proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
• Experience with Rapid Response/Code teams.
• Experience with IV therapy/Phlebotomy.
• Experience with Peripheral Line Care/Management.
• Experience with Nasal Cannula & Non-invasive airway management.
• Knowledge of Isolation Precautions/PPE.
• BLS certification.
• Must pass EKG Testing prior to start.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit.
