Our Orthopedic unit is a cohesive team environment that improves the quality of care for patients with joint replacement but may include ortho procedures with a variety of concurrent medical issues. This is the dept where the most effective improvements of patients are seen. Texas Health Dallas is a 900-bed MAGNET-designated hospital, a Level I Major Trauma facility, the first hospital in Dallas to achieve chest pain center accreditation from the Society of Chest Pain Centers and recipient of the American Heart Association's Mission: Lifeline Silver Quality Achievement Award. Requirements

Nursing Diploma required or Associate's Degree Nursing required
1 Year of experience as a registered nurse in an acute care setting required
RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire (Required)
BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Req
CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days Req

Nice To Haves

BSN (preferred)
ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Upon Hire Pref
ONC - Orthopedic Nurse Certified Upon Hire Pref

Responsibilities

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process - assesses the patient, plans the care of the patient, intervenes as appropriate, evaluates the effectiveness of interventions.
Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information.
Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
