About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse on the Medical Stroke Unit. The unit is a newly remodeled, 25 private bed unit committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate care. It utilizes a multidisciplinary team approach consisting of nurses, physicians, patient care assistants, case managers, and secretarial support staff. The care team specializes in the care of acutely ill medical/surgical patients, with a primary focus on patients affected by strokes. The unit prides itself on its strong partnership and high-quality care delivered to patients. Nursing skills gained on this unit include end-of-life care, patient and family advocacy, critical thinking skills, and foundational nursing skills. The unit has designations such as Primary Stroke Center, multiple Daisy Nominations, and NIHSS Certification. It is also one of four hospitals participating in a national research study. The unit culture includes a mentorship program, professional development, and teamwork focused on delivering quality care. New graduates receive 6 weeks of orientation.

Requirements

  • Associates of Nursing (ASN) required.
  • Current state of Indiana license as Registered Nurse.
  • Graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • More than two years of acute care experience may be considered for candidates not graduated from a nationally accredited program, subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Other Advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
