As part of the Adult Stroke unit at Methodist, you are a key contributor in advancing and providing the most specialized stroke care in Indiana and will be NIHSS certified during orientation. IU Methodist's Adult Medical/Stroke Unit is an 18-bed unit designated for the medical/stroke population. Our medical stroke unit provides an opportunity for nurses to learn and grow alongside some of the most highly skilled professionals in the neuroscience community. This team delivers on their dedication to continually improve processes and the quality of care for patients suffering from stroke, seizures, and other neurological deficits.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of RN experience.
  • Associates of Nursing (ASN).
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. (Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience, subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)).
  • Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.

  • Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Opportunity to obtaining your SCRN (Stroke Certified Registered Nurse) Certification.
  • Become NIHSS certified during orientation.
