About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Med Surg General Surgical GI Urology department at Texas Health Fort Worth provides care to a wide variety of post-operative patients, including those undergoing complex gastro-intestinal, urology, and colorectal surgeries. This full-time, day shift position offers opportunities for self-scheduling, educational and career growth, and involvement in a robust Unit Based Council. The role is within a 36-bed unit located in the new Justin Tower of a MAGNET facility and a Level I Trauma Center.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required
  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire required
  • BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
  • 1-year experience as a registered nurse or the completion of an RN Residency program

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred
  • 2+ years med surg experience as an RN in acute care setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
  • Assesses the patient
  • Plans the care of the patient
  • Intervenes as appropriate
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
  • Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
  • Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers
