About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Med Surg General Surgical GI Urology department provides care to a wide variety of post-operative patients, including those undergoing complex gastro-intestinal, urology, and colorectal surgeries. This role offers the opportunity to work on a brand-new unit in the beautiful Justin Tower at Texas Health Fort Worth, a MAGNET facility and Level I Trauma Center. The department features self-scheduling for work-life balance, opportunities for educational and career growth, a robust Unit Based Council (UBC), and engaged leadership.

Requirements

• Associate Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required
• Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire required
• BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
• CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
• 1-year experience as a registered nurse or the completion of an RN Residency program

Nice To Haves

• BSN preferred
• 2+ years med surg experience as an RN in acute care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
• Assesses the patient
• Plans the care of the patient
• Intervenes as appropriate
• Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
• Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
• Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
• Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
