About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides care to patients in the General Surgical Department/GI Urology at Texas Health Fort Worth. This role involves caring for a variety of post-operative patients, including those undergoing complex gastro-intestinal, urology, and colorectal surgeries. The position is part-time, working two 12-hour night shifts per week, with rotating weekends and holidays. The unit offers self-scheduling, opportunities for educational and career growth, a robust Unit Based Council, and is located in the new Justin Tower. Texas Health Fort Worth is a MAGNET facility and a Level I Trauma Center.

Requirements

Associate Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required
Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire required
BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
1-year experience as a registered nurse or the completion of an RN Residency program

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred
2+ years med surg experience as an RN in acute care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
Assesses the patient
Plans the care of the patient
Intervenes as appropriate
Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
