About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process. This includes assessing the patient, planning the care of the patient, intervening as appropriate, evaluating the effectiveness of interventions, and incorporating age-specific safety/infection control measures into patient care. The role also involves initiating action to meet patient and/or significant others' need for information and maintaining continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out-of-hospital transfers. The specific unit focuses on General Surgical patients, including complex gastro-intestinal, urology, and colorectal surgeries.

Requirements

Associate Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required
Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire required
BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
1-year experience as a registered nurse or the completion of an RN Residency program

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred
2+ years med surg experience as an RN in acute care setting preferred
