About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) unit at Texas Health Allen plays a crucial role in delivering care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process. This includes assessing patients, planning their care, intervening as appropriate, and evaluating the effectiveness of those interventions. The role also involves incorporating age-specific safety and infection control measures, initiating actions to meet patient and/or significant others' needs for information, and maintaining continuity of patient care across shifts, hospitals, and during transfers. The Mom/Baby Department is a Level II Maternal Designation with a Level II NICU, featuring a Certified Nurse Midwife Hospitalist Based Model, 8 LDRPs, 5 Antepartum Rooms, and 2 Operating Rooms, handling 40-45 deliveries per month with a small, highly collaborative team.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Nursing or Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program required
  • One-year experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program.
  • RN must practice within the regulations of the Texas Nurse Practice Act, serve as a role model, intra/interdisciplinary collaborator, and coordinator for quality patient care
  • BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent care and maintained quarterly required
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention training within 90 days and maintained annually required
  • NRP – Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program required within 90 days
  • ACLS – Advance Cardiac Life Support within 90 days required
  • NRPA – Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 days required

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred
  • One year of Labor & Delivery experience strongly preferred
