About The Position

The Center for Women and Infants’ - Mother friendly and Texas 10-step facility, has a position for an acute-care RN from the admission to the discharge process in the LDRP setting: Labor/Delivery/Recovery/Postpartum. This facility has a Level I Maternal designation. The role involves self-scheduling which helps with work/life balance, as well as opportunities for educational and career growth. The department handles up to 40 deliveries a month and involves catching babies and recovering both mom and baby.

Requirements

Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program OR Nursing Diploma
One-year (1) Year Experience as a clinical nurse (RN) or completion of an RN residency program
RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire
BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 90 days of hire
NRP – Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 days
NRPA - Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program 90 Days
CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days

Nice To Haves

Bachelor of Science Nursing - BSN is preferred
One year of Labor & Delivery RN experience strongly preferred
AWHONN - Advanced Fetal Monitoring within 18 Months

Responsibilities

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
Assesses the patient
Plans the care of the patient
Intervenes as appropriate
Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
Ability to triage, labor, deliver, circulate and recover patients, as well as assist with breastfeeding education for both mother and baby.
