About The Position

Provides care and monitoring of Antenatal patients admitted or placed in observation until discharge or transfer to higher level of care. Provides care for Perinatal patients admitted for conditions related to labor, induction of labor, birth, and postpartum care. Cares for Postpartum patients admitted for treatment of postpartum complications. Provides care for well term newborns and physiologically stable preterm newborns > 35 weeks gestation. Cares for obstetrical patients or newborns whose condition requires transfer to a tertiary center, until transfer team assumes care. Assists with pre-operative prep of scheduled and unscheduled cesareans, and other obstetrical procedures. Participates in neonatal resuscitation as an integral part of the NRP team. Responds to obstetrical emergencies occurring on hospital premises, and assist with pregnancy-related triage needs in the emergency department. Facilitates outpatient visits in coordination with providers to conduct birth center tours, outpatient non-stress tests (NST), newborn screenings, and lactation support. Registered Nurses provide direct patient care by continuously assessing, monitoring, and documenting patient health status, and responding promptly to changes in condition. They collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans, administer medications and treatments, and perform clinical procedures. They serve as a primary advocate for patients and families, ensuring informed consent, facilitating communication, and providing education to support understanding of diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning. They maintain accurate and timely documentation in the medical record, adhere to infection control and safety protocols, and participate in quality improvement initiatives. They maintain current licensure, certifications, and competency through individual efforts and by participating in drills and completing mandatory education. They adhere to established standards of nursing practice and applicable state board of nursing regulations, as well as hospital policy, protocols, and procedures.

Requirements

  • WA State or Compact License
  • BLS Certified within 30 days of hire.
  • Fetal Heart Monitoring, NRP , S.T.A.B.L.E., and ACLS Certification with 90 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • >6 months of acute care nursing, with strong background experience in fields related to pregnancy, postpartum, neonatal care, lactation, and/or doula work.
  • Previous L&D, or LDRP experience
  • Certifications and additional trainings in maternal neonatal nursing
  • AWHONN Membership
