About The Position

This is a Labor and Delivery (L&D) registered nurse travel contract position at a short-term acute care rural hospital in Plainview, Texas. The facility is a 49-bed Level IV Trauma Center. The nurse must be able to work independently in a rural setting where only one L&D nurse may be scheduled per shift. When staffing a single L&D nurse, the charge nurse serves as backup or an on-call team member is available for support. The facility strives to staff according to AWHONN guidelines whenever possible, but the nurse may need to manage labor patients alongside OB triage and outpatient patients. Floating to Medical-Surgical or the Emergency Department is not required. Assistance with postpartum and nursery care is expected when patient volumes and staffing needs warrant. This is an onsite, three-month contract. The evening schedule is three 12-hour shifts, 15:00–03:30, with six weekend shifts required per six-week schedule. On-call and block scheduling are not required, and 48-hour shifts are not approved. Patient ratios are variable. RNs wear navy blue scrubs; free parking is available in any unrestricted space. The role pays $56.80–$60.80 per hour. Applicants must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer; visa sponsorship is unavailable.
