About The Position

This is a Labor and Delivery (L&D) Registered Nurse position. The assignment length is 13 or 26 weeks, with a start date of ASAP. The shift is either 3x12 or 4x12 nights. First-time travelers are accepted, and a pending AK RN license is accepted as long as the license is in hand for an auto-offer. Weekend requirements include every other weekend. Clinicians may float to like units if needed. Locals are not accepted, and candidates must have a permanent address at least 50 miles from the facility. Time off is approved on an individual basis upon offer, and all time off must be included in the submittal. Guaranteed hours are 60 hours per 2 weeks, with the possibility of being called off for one 12-hour shift per 2 weeks. The unit is OB Triage/Testing and Labor/Antepartum High Risk LD. It includes 10 OB Triage Rooms, 10 LDR Rooms, 3 OR suites, and 4 PACU rooms. The average daily deliveries are around 7, but can increase up to 14 patients with inductions and high-risk antepartum patients. OB Triage averages 4-5 third-trimester testing patients, plus an influx of triage patients daily. The facility is a Magnet facility, Level II Trauma, and a USNWR Best Hospital in Alaska, with 407 total staffed beds. The charting system is Epic, and parking is free.

Requirements

AK RN license in hand for Auto Offer
Minimum 1 year of experience
BLS certification
ACLS certification
AWHONN Intermediate and Advanced certifications
NRP certification
Familiarity with Epic charting
Must have permanent address at least 50 miles from facility
All time off must be included in submittal

Responsibilities

Provide care in an OB Triage/Testing and Labor/Antepartum High Risk LD unit.
Manage patients in LDR rooms, OR suites, and PACU rooms.
Handle an average of 7 daily deliveries, potentially up to 14 patients with inductions and high-risk antepartum cases.
Manage OB Triage patients, including third-trimester testing and general triage.
Float to like units if needed.
Willing to train as charge nurse if preferred.
Work every other weekend.
Be on-call as needed.
