About The Position

The Registered Nurse III (Clinical Nurse III) is a proficient and experienced clinician who provides comprehensive care to complex patients using advanced assessment, critical-thinking, technical, and organizational skills. The nurse applies in-depth specialty knowledge to care for individual patients and groups, including their families, and serves as an experienced mentor who helps develop staff and identify resources that support professional growth. Each year, the nurse selects and demonstrates achievement in one of three clinical advancement pathways: Clinical Quality, Education, or Leadership, and consistently maintains an ANCC-approved specialty nursing certification. This position supports outpatient care at the Samuel Oschin Cancer Center, which treats more than 60 types of cancer and provides chemotherapy and supportive services. The role includes clinic and infusion-related care, patient and family education, telephone triage, management of chemotherapy and prescriptions, and care for patients experiencing acute or chronic effects following autologous stem cell transplant. The nurse collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, adapts care to patients’ individual needs, supports safety and quality improvement, and may coordinate unit activity when assigned charge nurse responsibility.
