About The Position

Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse II provides individualized, goal-directed care to patients and families at the competent level, using the principles and practices of the nursing process. The nurse delivers safe and effective care and works with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results. The role is in the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) at the Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA). The schedule is three 12-hour rotating shifts per week, including some weekends, for 36 hours per week.

Requirements

• At least one year of work experience as a registered nurse.
• Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, either AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers (or an AHA-recognized equivalent) or American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
• RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013, with an associate or diploma degree in nursing must enroll in an accredited BSN program within two years and obtain a BSN within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date.
• Ability to perform the stated physical and sensory functions, including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds unassisted, and to work rotating shifts and overtime as required.
