About The Position

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health is the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 20 years, integrating clinical care with existing community providers, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC’s), The George Washington University Hospital, and our Urgent Care Center in Ward 8. This integrated delivery system is a robust network of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it ensures that residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community. This full-service hospital includes 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and newborn delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for clinic visits and other outpatient services, a 500-car garage, and a helipad for emergency transport. We are seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse (Full Time-Days). The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse provides specialized, high-quality nursing care to critically ill and medically complex patients in a fast-paced acute care environment. The ICU RN utilizes advanced clinical judgment, critical thinking, and evidence-based practice to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • DC RN license required.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of recent ICU or critical care nursing experience preferred.
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred.
  • CCRN certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, monitor, and care for critically ill adult patients requiring intensive medical and nursing interventions.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and critical care treatments in accordance with physician orders and hospital policies.
  • Operate and monitor advanced life-support equipment including ventilators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, and hemodynamic monitoring devices.
  • Recognize and respond rapidly to changes in patient condition, emergencies, and codes.
  • Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans based on patient diagnoses and clinical needs.
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
  • Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, procedures, medications, and discharge planning.
  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as a patient advocate while promoting compassionate, patient-centered care.
