About The Position

Join the Meduflex Team! MUSC Charleston’s inpatient Float Pool is where you'll gain exposure to a variety of patient populations, specialties, and care environments across our downtown campus. Serving both Adult and Pediatric patients, Meduflex offers the unique opportunity to build a strong clinical foundation within a specialized nursing zone. This role is for new graduate nurses interested in Adult or Pediatric Critical Care. New graduate nurses benefit from a comprehensive orientation program designed to build confidence and clinical expertise across multiple critical care environments. Throughout orientation, nurses receive individualized mentorship, dedicated leadership support, and ongoing guidance from an experienced Nursing Professional Development Specialist, ensuring a strong foundation for success.

Requirements

  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
  • Ability to perform job functions while standing (Continuous).
  • Ability to perform job functions while sitting (Continuous).
  • Ability to perform job functions while walking (Continuous).
  • Ability to work indoors (Continuous).
  • Ability to perform gross motor activities with frequent fine motor movements (Continuous).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred.
  • RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date.

Responsibilities

  • Float between several high-acuity units including the Surgical Trauma Burn ICU, Cardiac ICUs, and both Medical and Surgical ICUs in the Main Hospital and Ashley River Tower (for Adult Critical Care).
  • Float between the Pediatric and Neonatal ICUs, and Peds Heart Center (for Pediatric Critical Care).
  • Assist at the advanced beginner level in providing individualized, goal directed nursing care to patients and families utilizing principles and practices of the nursing process.
  • Interact with other members of the health care team to achieve desired outcomes.
