About The Position

Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse I (New Graduate) assists at the advanced beginner level in providing individualized, goal directed nursing care to patients and families utilizing principles and practices of the nursing process; interacts with the healthcare team to achieve desired outcomes. The following Operating Rooms will be participating in the Spring 2026 New Grad blitz: Main Operating Room (Main OR), Rutledge Tower Operating Room (RT OR), SJCH Pediatric Operating Room, and Ashley River Tower Operating Room (ART). The Main OR is a level one, academic trauma center with 21 ORs and 3 procedure areas covering all surgical specialties. Rutledge Tower Operating Room has 9 OR suites for adult outpatient and inpatient surgical procedures. The MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital is a pediatric level one, academic trauma center with eight OR suites and two minor ORs covering all pediatric surgical specialties. Ashley River Tower (ART) perioperative services are located on the fourth floor of the ART building and provides post-operative care for a diverse population of adult outpatient and inpatient surgeries.

Responsibilities

  • Assists at the advanced beginner level in providing individualized, goal directed nursing care to patients and families utilizing principles and practices of the nursing process.
  • Interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired outcomes.
  • RNs are trained to both scrub and circulate surgical procedures.
  • Provides post-operative care for a diverse population of adult outpatient and inpatient surgeries.
  • Focuses care on post-operative recovery from anesthesia including ERAS, pain, respiratory status, hemodynamic stability, and prevention of post-operative complications.
