About The Position

We have a new opening for a Registered Nurse - Family Health at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma with a Sign-on Bonus of $2,000.00. The duties include, but are not limited to the following; Initiate, perform and complete assigned duties in providing care to variable patient populations. Complete assigned patient care based on the patients' conditions, use judgment in selecting the appropriate order and sequence of procedures and treatments, and accurately recognize, report and record relevant patient information. Observe, identify and respond to the patient's needs for care, including medication, equipment-assisted care and patient/family education. Prepare and administer prescribed medications (oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular and/or intravenous) and perform treatments according to established policies/procedures. Recognize urgent or emergent patient care situations, seek assistance of the provider, and initiate appropriate emergency interventions within scope of practice. Perform support duties for complex diagnostic tests and/or specialized practices or procedures, which include preparing the patient, assisting in the diagnostic examination, preparing and handling specialized instruments or other specialized equipment, and monitoring the patient's condition before, during, and following the procedure. Orient peers and ancillary personnel to unit policies and procedures, skills, and standards of practice. Integrate healthy work environment principles that result in improved patient healthcare delivery, education of patients and their families and employee satisfaction. Effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization. Effectively uses appropriate communication format in addressing professional issues. Performs nursing assessments both in person and over the telephone according to established organizational standards of telehealth nursing. Ability to effectively communicate decisions and assessments and plans to patient/family. Collects and assesses significant patient history information and performs all necessary patient teaching. Excellent written communication skills to perform accurate documentation, both written and electronic, of all activity, including telephone contacts, in accordance with requirements. Makes referral appointments and arranges specialty care as appropriate. Skill in setting up, operating and monitoring specialized medical equipment such as cardiac monitoring devices, EKG units, oxygen analyzers, nebulizers, and other clinic specific equipment. Performs/assists with procedures such as bladder catheterizations, administration of oxygen, visual acuity tests, EKGs, irrigation of eyes and ears, tympanograms, splinting, phlebotomy and other clinic specific procedures, in accordance with established protocols. Ensures for proper documentation of procedures and treatments. Ensures all equipment is properly cleaned and stored at the end of each work shift. Ensures preventive maintenance and routine cleaning are performed as directed. Ensures medication/supplies are replenished. Participates in the orientation and training of newly assigned personnel, as appropriate. May be required to work various shifts or augment clinical nursing support during the absence of other team nurses due to illness, leave or deployment. Synthesizes data from a variety of sources and makes appropriate clinical decisions. Ensures a safe work environment employee safe work habits and patient safety IAW regulatory agencies, quality assessments, infection control policies, and process improvement initiatives. Works as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver quality care.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelors degree in Nursing from an accredited college, university or vocational nursing program approved by the appropriate State agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed: The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • A minimum of 2-years of post-grad experience as a registered nurse in a primary care setting within the past 5 years.
  • Current, full, active and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current AHA OR ARC BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.
  • All applicants selected for employment are required to submit to a background check and pre-employment drug test.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience in a DoD Medical Facility within the last 5 years, but not mandatory.
