About The Position

We have a new opening for a Registered Nurse - Cardiology at Nellis AFB in North Las Vegas, NV. Duties include collaborating with healthcare professionals, facilitating optimal patient outcomes, ensuring compliance with standards of care, performing physical exams, providing health promotions and counseling, administering medications, assisting with cardiac stress tests and other interventions, recognizing and reacting to emergencies, communicating and collaborating with diverse groups, making referrals, coordinating procedural testing, supporting ECG ordering and data input, performing nursing services, assisting with patient check-ins, admissions, discharges, and transfers, completing intake forms, ensuring medication history and reconciliations are accurate, conducting research, assisting with other duties in the cardiology, vascular, and pulmonary clinic, and establishing and maintaining professional relationships. The role also supports administrative functions such as educating new nurses and maintaining clinic programs.

Requirements

  • Possess a Bachelors degree in Nursing from a college or university accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • A minimum of 3-years of post-grad relevant experience as a registered nurse.
  • Current, full, active and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse from any state.
  • Current AHA OR ARC BLS and ACLS Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.
  • Must submit to a background check and pre-employment drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals in the provision of patient care.
  • Facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Perform physical exam and health assessments.
  • Provide health promotions, counseling, and education.
  • Administer medications and assist with cardiac stress tests (exercise stress tests, nuclear stress tests, and stress echocardiograms) and other personalized interventions.
  • Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and react quickly in emergencies.
  • Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people to inform the healthcare team of plans/actions, and for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.
  • Make referral appointments and arrange specialty care.
  • Assist with the coordination of procedural testing such as coronary CTA, cardiac catheterization, cardiac electrophysiology and device procedures, and advanced echocardiographic studies.
  • Support ambulatory ECG ordering, scheduling, and data/information download into the Cardiovascular Picture Archival Communication System (CVPACS).
  • Help ensure adequate order reconciliation within the CVPACS.
  • Perform nursing services identified in the unit.
  • Assist with patient check-ins, admissions, discharges, and transfers.
  • Complete intake forms completely.
  • Ensure the medication history and historical reconciliations are both complete and accurate.
  • Conduct research in support of improved practice and patient care.
  • Assist with other duties in the cardiology, vascular, and pulmonary clinic as assigned by unit leadership.
  • Assist with other departments at the direction of the Medical Group or Flight.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate, professional, interpersonal relationships with co-workers, families, peers, and other team members.
  • Ensure a safe work environment and employee safe work habits.
  • Support administrative roles in the clinic, including educating and training new Cardiopulmonary Clinic nurses and assisting in maintaining cardiopulmonary clinic programs such as peer reviews, peer expert, and Competency Assessment Folders (CAF).
