Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Services
About The Position
This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Services department. The role involves providing specialized care for patients, primarily those diagnosed with respiratory failure and cardiac conditions. The Emergency Department Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process, clinical judgment, critical thinking, prioritization, and time management skills to care for patients across the lifespan with various healthcare needs. The registered nurse also performs assigned procedures within the scope of practice set forth by the Iowa State Board of Nursing. The Emergency Room unit has 18 beds and a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4. The department is staffed with RNs, ED techs, and unit secretaries.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program required with a current unencumbered Registered Nurse License in Iowa or from a Compact State.
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within six (6) months of hire.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within six (6) months of hire
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) within six (6) months of hire
- Recent RN experience
Nice To Haves
- One (1) year of Medical/Surgical or Critical Care nursing experience
- One (1) year of ER experience
- One (1) year of Psychiatry experience
Responsibilities
- Providing nursing care for acutely ill patients.
- Utilizing the nursing process, clinical judgment, critical thinking, prioritization, and time management to care for patients throughout the life span and with a variety of healthcare needs.
- Performing assigned procedures that are within the scope of practice as set forth by the Iowa State Board of Nursing.
