About The Position

This role involves providing direct patient care in a fast-paced Emergency Department setting. The Registered Nurse will be responsible for patient triage, assessment, and the execution of care plans. This includes administering medications, performing treatments, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. The position also emphasizes patient advocacy, education, and maintaining accurate documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree (ADN) required.
• Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in the State of Virginia or compact multistate license.
• Previous acute care hospital experience required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Certification (ENPC) required within one year of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher preferred.
• Dedicated Emergency Room experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct rapid, thorough initial assessments upon patient arrival and prioritize care based on acuity using sound clinical judgment.
• Design, implement, and adjust personalized care plans in a fast-paced environment, monitoring vitals and observing changes in condition for prompt interventions.
• Administer medications, perform treatments, and initiate emergency protocols under physician guidance.
• Work seamlessly with physicians, technicians, paramedics, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth patient flow.
• Provide emotional support, clarify health conditions, and educate patients and their families regarding treatment and post-discharge care.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in accordance with regulatory standards and Sentara policies.
