About The Position
Vanderbilt University Medical Center's Department of Nursing Strategic Programs, through the Vanderbilt Medical Center Staffing Collaborative, offers an alternative nursing employment structure similar to travel nursing. This program allows nurses to work 13-week assignments within specific units at VUMC, providing a new and exciting approach to nursing in a patient-focused, safe, and efficient manner. The Staffing Collaborative aims to ensure coverage for significant scheduling needs across the organization. Assignments may require working weekends and holidays, with minimum requirements consistent with full-time staff expectations for each unit. This role offers premium pay and optional health benefits, with nurses typically working 36-40 hours per week based on unit needs. The assignment has a fixed end date of 01/09/2027.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse
- Graduate of an approved discipline-specific program (or equivalent experience)
- 1 year of ED Stepdown RN experience
- Registered Nurse BLS, ACLS, and PALS
- LIC-Registered Nurse - Tennessee
Nice To Haves
- Preferred 2 or more years of recent ED Stepdown RN experience
Responsibilities
- Applies the nursing process to plan and manage the care of complex patients in a comprehensive manner.
- Recognizes complex learning needs and prepares individual teaching plans for patients/families and consistently demonstrates effective patient education to peers.
- Consistently ensures a comprehensive continuum of care plan in collaboration with the health care team.
- Demonstrates and role models effective communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Ensures evidence-based care and continuously monitors patient outcomes.
- Floats across entities to fulfill requirements of the role.
- Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
- Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
- Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
- Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.
