About The Position

The Registered Nurse - Charge - Emergency Department position is a full-time day shift role located at UAB St. Vincent's Blount in Oneonta, AL. This role involves coordinating unit staffing, providing leadership, and ensuring the implementation of clinical objectives and quality patient care within the Emergency Department. The position also includes assessing patient care needs, developing assignments, evaluating care effectiveness, and responding to patient care complaints. The nurse will also contribute to staff performance evaluations, hiring, training, and development.

Requirements

BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.
Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing and professional licensure/certification required.
1 year of cumulative job specific experience required.

Nice To Haves

ACLS and PALS may be required in some units (Step Down, ED and ICU) within 6-months of date hire or transfer.

Responsibilities

Coordinate unit staffing and provide leadership while ensuring implementation of clinical objectives and quality patient care in assigned area.
Assign, direct, educate and monitor nursing and support staff during assigned shift.
Contribute to or perform performance evaluations of staff.
Assess daily patient care needs and develop and distribute patient care assignments, ensuring that population appropriate patient care is given.
Evaluate the effectiveness of patient care and identify any issues that affect desired patient outcomes.
Responds to complaints about patient care and manage through established channels.
May provide input for hiring, training, directing, development and evaluating of staff.
