About The Position

Responsible for delivering nursing care within the assigned unit’s scope of practice, following hospital policies and procedures, nursing process guidelines, standards of care, and standards of practice. The role assesses assigned patients, plans and implements their care, evaluates their responses, provides patient teaching, and oversees ancillary personnel performing technical tasks.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Experience in a specialty area may be considered; experience specific to the unit or position may be required to maintain the unit’s overall competency level, as required by a regulatory agency.
• Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse license.
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification as a Healthcare Provider.
• Within six months of hire, ACLS is required for RNs in Critical Care, Emergency, Endoscopy, Cardiac Cath Lab, Cardiac Rehab, Intensive Care Unit, Step-Down, and Telemetry Floats; NRP is required for RNs in Labor and Delivery; and PALS is required for RNs in Pediatrics. Emergency Department RNs must obtain PALS and TNCC within one year.

Nice To Haves

• One year of professional nursing experience.
• ACLS certification is preferred in other units.

Responsibilities

• Assess each assigned patient, document and evaluate the patient’s response to the plan of care, and take appropriate corrective action.
• Plan and implement the patient’s plan of care or standard of care and provide patient teaching using that plan.
• Oversee ancillary personnel performing technical tasks.
