About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Cardiovascular Stepdown Unit on the 7th floor, Cohort 30. This night shift position involves applying the nursing process to plan and implement patient care, including education and continuum of care planning. The role requires effective communication with the healthcare team, collaboration on patient goals, and evaluation of progress. The nurse will engage in continuous learning to meet Board of Nursing standards. The unit cares for a diverse cardiac patient population, including Cardiac Stepdown Patients, Cardiovascular & Telemetry Patients, Heart Failure, Arrhythmias, Pre- and Post-Cardiac Procedures, Complex Medical & Progressive Care Patients, and Peritoneal Dialysis Patients. This is a fast-paced, team-oriented environment offering professional growth and skill expansion in areas such as cardiac assessment, telemetry interpretation, patient prioritization, critical thinking, and progressive care nursing.

Requirements

  • LIC-Registered Nurse - Licensure-Others
  • Relevant Work Experience
  • Graduate of an approved discipline specific program
  • Minimum requirement of 4 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule and 2 on-call shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning.
  • Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team.
  • Collaborates in establishing patient goals and evaluates progress to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Furthers professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to the Board of Nursing standards.
  • Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
  • Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
  • Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.
