Registered Nurse, Cardiac Medicine Stepdown, Night Shift - VUH
About The Position
Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Cardiac Medicine Stepdown unit (8 South) on the night shift. This 24-bed unit cares for adult patients with a wide range of cardiovascular and vascular conditions, including those recovering from STEMIs, heart failure exacerbations, and post-operative cardiothoracic surgeries. The role involves applying the nursing process to plan and implement patient care, including education and continuum of care planning. The nurse will collaborate with the healthcare team, establish patient goals, and evaluate progress. Professional growth is encouraged through continuous learning. This position requires a minimum of 4 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule. Requirements
- LIC-Registered Nurse - Licensure-Others
- Relevant Work Experience
- Graduate of an approved discipline specific program
- 1 year of experience

Responsibilities
- Applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning.
- Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team.
- Collaborates in establishing patient goals and evaluates progress to ensure effective outcomes.
- Furthers professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to the Board of Nursing standards.
- Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
- Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
- Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
- Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.
