About The Position

Weekday ambulatory nursing in the Four Corners — seven openings, no nights, no weekends. The Community Red Mesa sits in the heart of the Four Corners on the Navajo Nation, about 45 minutes west of Shiprock, New Mexico and roughly an hour and a half from Farmington. It is high desert country with wide horizons: Monument Valley, Canyon de Chelly and Mesa Verde are all short drives, Durango and the San Juan Mountains are close enough for a weekend, and the cost of living is a fraction of what nurses pay in a metro market. Nurses who take assignments here talk about the patients and the pace — you know your community, and you have the time to teach. The Facility Four Corners Regional Health Center is a full-service ambulatory health center serving the Navajo Nation, with primary care providers, nursing, laboratory and radiology on site plus an urgent care. Nursing covers the outpatient clinic and urgent care, caring for adults, pediatric and maternal patients, with float coverage to other nursing units as patient needs require. Requirements

• Active, unrestricted RN license from any U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico or a U.S. territory — an Arizona license is not required
• Two years of ambulatory or medical/surgical nursing experience
• Current BLS certification

Nice To Haves

• PALS, ACLS, TNCC or NLS certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Assess patients, develop and carry out nursing care plans, and interview patients and family members to determine care needs
• Interpret vital findings for emergent care and provide treatments as directed
• Care for patients with diabetes, congestive heart failure and other cardiac conditions, hypertensive disorders, infectious disease, chronic conditions and autoimmune disease
• Care for pediatric and maternal patients in the outpatient clinic and urgent care
• Start IVs, draw labs, and administer adult and pediatric immunizations
• Assist providers with procedures such as lumbar punctures and paracentesis, and chaperone examinations
• Teach patients and families, and document all observations and interventions in the health record
• Float to other nursing units, including sitter coverage and patient transports, as patient care needs require
