About The Position

The Irene Benn Health Clinic provides ambulatory services to all ages in Moapa, Nevada. This clinic serves approximately 490 patients and offers a wide range of services including behavioral health, immunizations, laboratory services, nutrition, optometry, pharmacy, podiatry, primary care, public health nursing, and substance abuse counseling. The Registered Nurse - Ambulatory Care will play a vital role in patient education, administering treatments, managing medical equipment, assessing patient vital signs, screening for various conditions, and collaborating with other healthcare providers. This position also involves performing quality control checks, collecting lab specimens, recognizing and responding to emergencies and adverse reactions, and managing patient care with ancillary staff.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years experience as a registered nurse.
  • An ASN degree from an Accredited Nursing School Program.
  • Must have an active, unrestricted, and free of disciplinary action license as a nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States.
  • Must have a current certification in Basic Life Support.

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelor of Science (BSN) degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides patient education.
  • Carries out physician orders; administers medications, oxygen, and a variety of treatments.
  • Manages therapeutic devices such as respiratory and electrocardiograph machines and other medical equipment and supplies.
  • Measures and assesses vital signs, height, weight, and neurological status, visual acuity, and hearing.
  • Screens patients for alcohol dependence, depression, etc.
  • Collaborates and coordinates patient care with other healthcare providers.
  • Assigns and directs the patient care provided by ancillary nursing staff.
  • Performs quality control for capillary blood glucose monitoring checks, fridge temperature checks, etc.
  • Collects or assists in the collection of lab specimens where applicable.
  • Recognizes life-threatening emergencies and initiates and maintains resuscitation measures and other emergency procedures as appropriate to the situation.
  • Recognizes adverse reactions to medications, treatments, and procedures and initiates interventions as appropriate to the situation.
  • Answers and screens telephone calls, takes off and initiates medical orders.
