Registered Nurse, Ambulatory Care (initial assignment Infectious Diseases) – Temporary Full-Time (1.0) (until July, 2028)
About The Position
CHEO is seeking a Registered Nurse for an Ambulatory Care position with an initial assignment in Infectious Diseases. This is a temporary full-time role, expected to last until July 2028. The Registered Nurse will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for individual patients and their families within the Infectious Diseases division. This division includes programs such as general infectious diseases, tuberculosis, primary immune clinic, HIV clinic, RSV prophylactic clinic, travel medicine, and specialty immunization clinic. The nurse will function independently and as part of the ID Team, providing family-focused and evidence-based nursing care. The role involves compassionate care for infants, children, and youth with various infectious diseases, including HIV, tuberculosis, and primary immune pathologies. Responsibilities include managing and coordinating care for the RSV prophylactic program, teaching families and other healthcare professionals, identifying and responding to patient problems, participating in clinic activities and research, and engaging in continuous learning to develop expertise in the specialties.
Requirements

- Current registration with the College of Nurses in Ontario (Essential)
- Current CPR certification (Essential)
- Minimum three years Pediatric experience or other appropriate combinations of education and experience, along with the demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position, may be considered in lieu of stated education and experience (Essential)
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills (Essential)
- Demonstrated team skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision (Essential)
- Strong teaching skills (Essential)

- BScN (current or in progress) (Preferred)
- Previous Ambulatory Care/Case Management Experience (Preferred)
- Previous knowledge/experience with Infectious Diseases patients (Preferred)
Responsibilities
- Deal compassionately with infants, children and their families with a variety of infectious diseases pathologies, including children and youth living with and/or affected with HIV, tuberculosis, and primary immune pathologies.
- Manage and coordinate care with partner organizations for babies who meet criteria for the RSV prophylactic program.
- Teaching of families and other health care professionals.
- Identify real and potential problems and respond to emergencies by intervening directly or referring to other health care professionals.
- Participation in all clinic activities.
- Participation in research.
- Continuous learning to develop expertise in the specialties.
