About The Position

Navitas Healthcare, LLC is seeking a Registered Nurse – Adult Care (Med/Surg) for an exciting Travel or Local job in New York, NY. This role involves providing direct bedside nursing care to adult Med/Surg patients, administering medications, performing various medical procedures, monitoring patient responses and vital signs, and educating patients and families. The nurse will collaborate with physicians and care teams for discharge planning and maintain accurate documentation in electronic medical records, adhering to all nursing standards, protocols, and safety guidelines.

Requirements

  • Active New York State RN License.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher.
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience in an acute care or post-acute setting (within past 1 year preferred).
  • Strong clinical skills in physical assessment.
  • Medication administration experience.
  • IV therapy experience.
  • Wound care and infection control experience.
  • Post-operative care experience.
  • Patient education experience.
  • Telemetry monitoring experience.
  • AHA BLS Certification.
  • AHA ACLS Certification (where applicable).
  • Strong English communication skills (spoken, written, and reading).

Nice To Haves

  • EPIC EMR experience.
  • Experience in large acute care hospital environments.
  • Strong Med/Surg telemetry background.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
  • Provide direct bedside nursing care to adult Med/Surg patients.
  • Administer medications and monitor patient responses.
  • Perform wound care, dressing changes, and infection control procedures.
  • Insert and manage IV lines and urinary catheters as required.
  • Monitor vital signs and report any changes or adverse reactions.
  • Provide post-operative care and monitor recovery progress.
  • Operate and manage specialized medical equipment as needed.
  • Educate patients and families on care plans and discharge instructions.
  • Collaborate with physicians and care teams for discharge planning.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records.
  • Follow all nursing standards, protocols, and safety guidelines.
