About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care for outpatient patients of all ages with diverse medical and nursing diagnoses. This role involves performing various medical procedures and collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care. The position is located at the Wanblee Health Center in Wanblee, SD, a vital community facility dedicated to providing essential healthcare services, including primary care, preventive care, and emergency medical care, with a focus on comprehensive, accessible, and culturally sensitive care.

Requirements

• Completed an accredited nursing program at the associate or bachelor’s level.
• Passed the NCLEX-RN exam.
• Possess a current, valid, unrestricted nursing license in a state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States.
• Valid American Heart Association certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
• A minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience, with a focus on medical-surgical in-patient specialties and acute care units.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care for outpatient patients of all ages with diverse medical and nursing diagnoses.
• Perform dressing changes, assist with ambulation, and support activities of daily living.
• Administer prescribed medications and vaccines.
• Perform respiratory treatments, oxygen therapy, and fit assistive devices like splints or durable medical equipment.
• Perform urinary catheter placements, collect tissue and biological samples, venipuncture for blood samples, and assist in setting up minor procedures using aseptic techniques.
• Initiate treatments, administer medications, and perform emergency and resuscitative measures.
• Consult with primary care providers and other healthcare professionals to coordinate diagnostic and therapeutic regimens for patients.
