FT positions available (36 hours) D/N, 8 &12 hour shifts, holidays and weekends, on-call responsibilities. Provide direct care to antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum (high, moderate, and low risk) patients, in collaboration with physicians and social workers in Labor and Delivery. Expectation is to provide patient and family centered care always. Demonstrates good communication skills and the ability to prioritize and problem solve in a fast-paced environment. In addition to the primary position to this unit, employees are oriented and trained to various competencies/mode of care and delivery across the OB service. Newly hired nurses will be trained to function in the obstetric operating rooms and the obstetric emergency room (triage). Floating among units in order to meet variable needs of volume and acuity is an ongoing expectation of all OB/GYN nurses.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year OB or Critical Care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for provision of competent direct patient care based on established standards.
  • Contributes to unit activities and supports enhancement of the care delivery system at the unit level.
  • Supports peers in the delivery of patient care services and assumes an expanded role which may include charge nurse, preceptor, and committee member responsibilities.
