About The Position

Alta Material Handling is looking to add a Regional Sales Manager based out of our New York Material Handling locations. This role is responsible for implementing and executing a successful sales strategy in the region, driving sales growth while maintaining gross profit objectives. The manager will recruit, train, and manage territory equipment sales representatives across New York, requiring travel approximately 30% of the time. A key aspect of this role is developing a business plan and sales strategy for the market to ensure the attainment of company sales goals and profitability. The position requires knowledge of warehouse products sold and is responsible for the performance and development of Account Managers. This includes preparing action plans, initiating and coordinating development of action plans to penetrate new markets, and assisting in the development and implementation of marketing plans. Regular one-on-one reviews with Account Managers are essential for building effective communication, identifying training needs, and improving sales and activity performance. The role also involves providing timely feedback to senior management, competitive pricing, maintaining accurate records, and assisting Account Managers with proposal presentations and RFP responses. Ensuring Account Managers meet or exceed activity standards, setting examples in character and work habits, and conducting regular coaching and counseling are also key responsibilities. Maintaining client contact for high levels of satisfaction and proactively using eCRM are also expected.

Requirements

  • 5 years B2B sales management
  • Bachelor's degree in business or equivalent required
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Fast paced, high energy individual with an aggressive sales style
  • Must have valid driver’s license, clean driving record and automobile insurance
  • Computer programs - Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Drive sales growth while maintaining gross profit objectives.
  • Recruit, train, and manage territory equipment sales representatives across New York.
  • Develop a business plan and sales strategy for the market to ensure attainment of company sales goals and profitability.
  • Contain knowledge of warehouse products sold.
  • Responsible for the performance and development of the Account Managers.
  • Prepares action plans by individuals as well as by team for effective search of sales leads and prospects.
  • Initiates and coordinates development of action plans to penetrate new markets.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of marketing plans as needed.
  • Conducts one-on-one review with all Account Managers to build more effective communications, to understand training and development needs, and to provide insight for the improvement of Account Manager’s sales and activity performance.
  • Provides timely feedback to senior management regarding performance.
  • Provides timely, accurate, competitive pricing on all completed prospect applications submitted for pricing and approval, while striving to maintain maximum profit margin.
  • Maintains accurate records of all pricings, sales, and activity reports submitted by Account Managers.
  • Assists Account Managers with proposal presentations and RFP responses.
  • Assists Account Managers in preparation of proposals and presentations.
  • Ensures that all Account Managers meet or exceed all activity standards for prospecting calls, appointments, presentations, proposals and closes.
  • Sets examples for Account Managers in areas of personal character, commitment, organizational and selling skills, and work habits.
  • Conducts regular coaching and counseling with Account Managers to build motivation and selling skills.
  • Maintains contact with clients in the market area to ensure high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Proactively uses and reinforces with the Account Managers the proactive use of eCRM as our CRM vehicle.
