About The Position
New River Valley Community Services is seeking a Regional Peer Recovery Specialist to support individuals in recovery and their families. This role involves planning, developing, and implementing training and support activities. Key responsibilities include weekly visits to Marion State Hospital to facilitate group activities, provide peer support, and coordinate discharge planning with a multidisciplinary treatment team. The Specialist will also lead a Regional Recovery Steering Committee, organize monthly recovery support meetings, and build partnerships with community recovery programs and advocacy organizations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist required.
- Must have a mental health or substance use disorder that has impacted your life for two years or more.
- Must identify a year in recovery.
Nice To Haves
- Associate's degree in human services or related field preferred.
- Speaking multiple languages is a plus.
