About The Position

This role is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating educational activities for an assigned service or population. The Regional Onboarding Clinical Educator will collaborate with nurse managers and staff to assess learning needs and competencies, develop and implement educational plans, and identify/develop teaching tools and instructional materials. The position requires maintaining training records in a Learning Management System, applying evidence-based practice, and adhering to professional nursing standards and the ANA Code of Ethics. This role supports multiple ministries with their onboarding and clinical needs, focusing on standardization of curriculum and processes to align with organizational resources and evidence-based practices. The educator will be comfortable supporting the planning, curriculum development, implementation, evaluation, and change management of new onboarding programs and processes, acting as a collaborative thinker with a drive for excellence and a steward of resources. Travel to all SSM ministries in the STL Region is expected, and maintaining competency with ongoing patient care support ad hoc is also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a BSN required.
  • Solid foundation in acute care clinical setting – minimum of two years recent experience in the setting.

  • State of Work Location: Wisconsin Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA) And Registered Nurse (RN) Issued by Compact State Or Registered Nurse (RN) - Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services
  • Three years' registered nurse experience
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Rare climbing.

  • Educator experience a plus (Formal experience, Clinical Coach, “Boots on the Ground”, Unit champion, and/or a passion for education)
  • Operational experience a plus (project management, gap analysis, implementation, ROI, utilization, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with nurse managers and staff to assess learning needs and competencies.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates educational plans/programs and utilizes methods, measurements and tools to evaluate achievement of learning goals.
  • Identifies and/or develops teaching tools and instructional materials.
  • Maintains training record of educational activities in the Learning Management System or similar system.
  • Applies the existing body of evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge in health care to nursing practice, ensuring that nursing care is delivered based on patient’s age-specific needs and clinical needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
