About The Position

The Regional Medical Director (RMD) will be responsible for directing clinical care for patients requiring physician support, ensuring proper clinical management and continuity of care through communication with various healthcare professionals. The RMD will also conduct daily telephonic rounds with NPs for medical management, provide clinical guidance, and communicate directly with patients and families when necessary. A key part of the role involves ensuring all required documents are properly performed and documented, and participating in on-call duties. The RMD will review and analyze regional performance metrics, create improvement plans with the CMO, and provide quarterly reports covering customer satisfaction, staff development, quality improvement, profitability, and growth. This role requires a self-starter who thrives in an unstructured, start-up environment and can work independently and collaboratively.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Medical School.
  • Doctorate's degree with a minimum of five (5) years Medical Doctor experience with direct patient care.
  • Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with California/or organization requirements and is in good working order.
  • Thrives in an unstructured, start-up environment.
  • Self-starter that can work independently and collaboratively, prioritize tasks and has initiative and excitement to take on unfamiliar tasks.
  • Advanced knowledge of word processing, graphic presentation and computer software related to specific tasks.
  • Demonstrated excellent computer and word processing skills with special emphasis on calendaring, presentation, and spreadsheet capabilities.
  • Working knowledge of company policies, procedures, and operations.
  • Excellent composition, grammar, and business language skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management, patients, and family members.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in LCT, SNF settings.
  • Experience in managed care settings (Medicare Advantage, ACO, full risk IPA).
  • Experience in palliative and hospice care.
  • Experience managing and teaching mid-level clinicians (NP/PA).
  • Certification in a specialist area preferred; (e.g., Internal Medicine, Family Practice, or Hospice and Palliative Care).

Responsibilities

  • Direct clinical care for patients who require physician support.
  • Communicate with specialists, hospitalists, ER physician, LTC staff, case management, social workers, and all other pertinent personnel to ensure proper clinical management and continuity of care.
  • Daily telephonic rounds with assigned NPs for medical management – provide clinical guidance for evidence-based medicine.
  • Directly communicate with patients and family when deemed necessary.
  • Ensure all required documents (H&P, SOAP notes, Annual Wellness exam, ACO quality measures, Advanced Directives, POLST) are properly performed and documented.
  • Back up on-call (weekends or weekdays).
  • Review and analyze regional performance metrics, create performance improvement plans (with CMO).
  • Provide a quarterly report to include customer satisfaction, staff development and training, quality improvement, profitability, and growth.
  • Oversee customer satisfaction surveys, Facility satisfaction, PCP satisfaction, and corrective actions to improve performance.
  • Responsible for training of new employees in compliance with the company’s policies and procedures.
  • Conduct performance evaluations as scheduled on their medical staffs, provide feedback from Chart Review in conjunction with CMO as scheduled in Peer Review Policy, oversee documentation and coding, and disciplinary action in conjunction with the CMO and BOD approval.
  • Oversee staffing/productivity, assess capped contracts utilization, medical necessity of visits, coordinate vacation coverage and time off, secure subcontractor coverage as needed to ensure company’s objectives are met.
  • Responsible for developing and securing new contracts, marketing efforts, increasing census in each facility, developing strategic alliances. Goal is obtained 10% market share for each region.
