About The Position

Hills Distribution is seeking a hands-on IT Systems Lead to serve as the primary IT expert for the NY/NJ/PA Region. This role involves addressing undocumented networks and unmanaged switches at various sites, with a focus on improving IT infrastructure as the company grows through acquisition. The position reports to the Director of IT, and the IT Systems Lead will collaborate with an existing IT team for support and purchasing. The ideal candidate is proactive, willing to solve problems before escalating, and comfortable working within established standards. The Director of IT will provide initial site visits and ongoing weekly check-ins.

Requirements

  • Hands-on IT experience in desktop support, networking, and infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting multi-site environments.
  • Proficiency with Windows Endpoints, basic server support, M365 & Entra ID, switching & wireless basics, everyday security practices, and remote support.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain professional relationships with senior leaders.
  • Comfort in documenting findings and resolutions.
  • A reliable personal vehicle and a valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Distribution, logistics, or similar multi-site operational experience.
  • Bachelor's degree, or certifications such as A+, CCNA or Network+, AWS or Azure.

Responsibilities

  • Act as primary IT expertise regionally for desktop, print, accounts, network, phones, and daily user inquiries.
  • Build IT trust and establish processes within the region.
  • Document networks and assets at each site to enable remote support by any team member.
  • Identify and resolve issues such as undocumented switches, old access points, inconsistent settings, and missing standards.
  • Manage the support ticket process at assigned sites, escalating issues, reporting major problems to local management, and ensuring follow-through on requests.
  • Co-administer Active Directory and M365 with the larger team, including user management, licensing, groups, permissions, and print servers.
  • Plan and deploy infrastructure improvements across sites in collaboration with the Director of IT.
  • Proactively report risks, vendor problems, and recurring issues to the Director of IT and business leaders.
