About The Position

This announcement pertains to the Regional Firefighter Testing for the Counties of Rockingham, Augusta, and Rockbridge, and the Cities of Harrisonburg, Staunton, and Waynesboro. Successful completion of both the written and physical ability tests is required to be eligible to apply for open firefighter positions with the listed localities. Certificates of completion, indicating a numerical score for the written test and a pass/fail for the physical ability test, will be valid for one year from the testing date. Each locality has its own minimum qualifications and hiring processes. Candidates must submit the locality's application and the test score certificate to be considered for open positions.

Requirements

• Must complete and pass the written test.
• Must complete and pass the physical ability test.
• Must have a valid picture ID for identification.
• Must be at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds by 7:45 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2026.
• Must attend the practice session for the physical ability test on Friday, October 23, 2026 between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
• Must wear comfortable clothing, including long pants and footwear with no open heel or toe.
• Must register online no later than 5:00 p.m. EST on Thursday, September 24, 2026.
