About The Position

In alignment with Microsoft values, this role manages the full spectrum of regulatory environmental requirements, including Federal, State, and local regulations with emphasis on air, water, waste management and water quality permitting, with a fundamental understanding of environmental management systems. The position identifies environmental aspects and ensures Microsoft data centers remain in full compliance, communicates these requirements to all stakeholders and senior management, and provides training online and/or in person. This opportunity allows active participation in a dynamic and exciting environment, working independently in-region and representing Microsoft to external and internal customers. It offers opportunities for continued learning, collaboration with other Environmental PMs globally, and work with third-party environmental consultants, fostering career growth. The position requires working on location in one of our data centers in the Americas region, with occasional travel to other locations. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related field AND 4+ years experience in Environmental Health and Safety Worldwide Regulations OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Science, Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related field AND 6+ years environmental health and safety worldwide regulations experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related field AND 8+ years environmental health and safety worldwide regulations experience OR equivalent experience.
  • Global work experience (e.g., programs, laws, regulations, stakeholders).
  • Multinational organization experience.
  • 4+ years of combined experience in environmental permitting and compliance management in the US and Canada.
  • Experience with Enhesa, Regscan, EIA Tracker, Enablon, Intelex or similar tools.

Responsibilities

  • Manage environmental compliance program for operating sites and handover of construction projects to operations.
  • Support operations personnel in completing regulatory obligations and addressing permit requirements.
  • Interact with facility personnel, company management, legal counsel, environmental sustainability team, and other relevant internal stakeholders to communicate environmental requirements, identify compliance issues, act as a technical resource, and coordinate on key initiatives.
  • Define and implement necessary training for facility operations personnel for managing environmental issues.
  • Support site incident investigations.
  • Interact with regulatory agency personnel on major environmental issues.
  • Monitor development of legislative changes in Americas region, analyze potential impacts on operations, and provide updates to the site personnel.
