About The Position

Academic Year in America (AYA), a member of the AIFS family of programs, is seeking an energetic and relationship-driven Regional Coordinator to support international student placement and participant support efforts across the United States. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys connecting with people, solving problems, building relationships, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of international students and host families. This is a full-time temporary-to-permanent opportunity with the potential for long-term employment. Conversion to permanent employment is not guaranteed and will depend on individual performance, business needs, and organizational approval. Candidates must be available to work in this role through at least September 30, 2026.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1–3 years of experience in customer service, education, sales, recruiting, or another people-focused role
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships quickly and communicate confidently with diverse audiences
  • Comfortable conducting outbound calls and managing high-volume communications
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and willingness to learn CRM/database systems
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, or additional hours during peak periods as business needs require
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically as needed
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment and report to the Stamford, CT office as required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in exchange programs, education, recruiting, customer support, or nonprofit environments
  • Experience working in cross-cultural or international environments
  • CRM or database management experience

Responsibilities

  • Place international students with qualified American host families
  • Build and maintain relationships with host families, students, schools, and community partners
  • Recruit, coach, and support a network of Local Coordinators
  • Conduct outreach and relationship-building activities to meet placement goals
  • Provide guidance and support to students throughout their program experience
  • Assist with conflict resolution and student support situations with professionalism and empathy
  • Coordinate student rematch efforts when placement changes are necessary
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and Department of State regulations
  • Support additional departmental and organizational initiatives as needed
