About The Position

Waste Pro is seeking an experienced Regional Controller to provide financial leadership and strategic business support across multiple operating divisions in Georgia and North Carolina. This is a finance leadership and business-partner role focused on the operational and financial performance of a waste and recycling business, rather than a traditional accounting role. The Regional Controller partners with the Regional Vice President, Division Managers, executive leadership, and operations teams to improve profitability, drive performance, support acquisitions, and inform business decisions. The role oversees regional financial operations and accounting activities, leads close and reporting processes, develops budgets and forecasts, analyzes operating results, and supports capital planning and fixed asset management. It also provides financial support for mergers and acquisitions, develops reporting tools that offer operational insight, and leads regional accounting personnel. Regular travel is required throughout North Carolina and Georgia, with periodic travel outside the region for corporate meetings, conferences, training, and planning sessions.

  • At least 10 years of progressive accounting and financial leadership or financial management experience.
  • At least 3 years of Controller or Regional Controller experience within the waste, recycling, or environmental services industry; the posting also describes direct finance/accounting experience within the waste industry as required.

  • Ability to work autonomously and cross-functionally in a team-oriented, matrix organization.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and business ethics.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, formulas, and financial modeling are identified as ideal.
  • Experience with financial reporting and financial statement preparation, budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, variance and profitability analysis, GL management, account reconciliations, journal entries, month-end and year-end close, cash flow analysis, fixed asset accounting, capital expenditure management, internal controls, and accounting compliance.
  • Applied familiarity with financial, accounting, or HRIS software and ERP systems; examples include DSL-Solomon, Dossier, Tower, SAP, Great Plains, PeopleSoft, and Ceridian, or comparable systems.
  • Familiarity with Crystal reporting and FRx report writing, ERP tools, and financial reporting or business intelligence tools.
