The Regional Business Director (RBD), West serves as the strategic and operational leader for SERB's Rare Emergency Medicine (REM) business across the western United States. This field-based leadership role is responsible for driving regional business performance through the leadership, coaching, and development of a team of approximately seven Key Account Managers (KAMs). The successful candidate will be a highly collaborative and results-oriented commercial leader with demonstrated success leading teams in complex, matrixed healthcare environments. This individual must possess deep experience in acute care hospital markets, including the successful commercialization of injectable therapies, and have a proven ability to influence key stakeholders across integrated delivery networks (IDNs), health systems, hospital pharmacies, emergency medicine, critical care, and executive leadership. Success in this role requires a leader who thrives in dynamic environments, embraces change, and can effectively balance strategic thinking with operational execution. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver who demonstrates resilience, adaptability, and sound judgment while navigating complex business challenges and evolving organizational priorities. The Regional Business Director will serve as a member of the REM Leadership Team and a critical contributor to the development and execution of business unit strategy and will partner closely with Marketing, Medical Affairs, Value & Access, Commercial Development, Commercial Operations, and other cross-functional stakeholders to deliver business results while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, agility, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device commercial experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of field leadership experience with a demonstrated track record of building and leading high-performing teams
  • Demonstrated success driving business results in acute care hospital markets.
  • Experience commercializing injectable pharmaceutical products in hospital-based settings
  • Experience leading teams through both in-line brand optimization and launch readiness activities, including successful commercialization of new products
  • Proven success leading geographically dispersed teams of Key Account Managers, Strategic Account Managers, or specialty pharmaceutical sales professionals responsible for complex, account-based selling models within highly matrixed healthcare environments involving multiple stakeholders and long sales cycles.
  • Strong understanding of hospital purchasing processes, formulary review, IDN decision-making, and account management
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex business situations, identify root causes, develop practical solutions, and translate insights into measurable business outcomes.
  • Exceptional communication, coaching, and influencing skills.
  • Experience partnering with commercial headquarters functions (e.g., Marketing, Sales Operations, Training, Market Access, Commercial Excellence) to design and execute key commercial programs (IC, speakers programs, etc)
  • Experience operating successfully within growth-stage, emerging, or highly entrepreneurial pharmaceutical organizations where adaptability, resourcefulness, and cross-functional collaboration are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all commercial activities and drive portfolio performance across the West region.
  • Develop and execute regional business plans aligned with organizational priorities and brand strategies.
  • Deliver regional sales, profitability, and performance objectives while ensuring disciplined resource allocation.
  • Translate national business strategies into actionable regional execution plans tailored to local market dynamics.
  • Analyze business performance trends, identify opportunities and risks, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Identify emerging market opportunities, competitive threats, and evolving customer needs to inform regional and organizational strategy.

  • Lead regional execution of account-based engagement strategies across hospitals, health systems, and IDNs, partnering closely with cross-functional stakeholders to drive coordinated customer engagement and business success.
  • Support KAMs in navigating complex customer environments involving physicians, pharmacy leaders, nursing leadership, administration, and formulary decision makers.
  • Engage directly with key customers and strategic accounts to accelerate adoption and optimize business outcomes.
  • Ensure effective pull-through of contracting, market access, and value-based initiatives where appropriate.
  • Demonstrate deep expertise in emergency medicine and acute care customer environments, coaching KAMs to navigate complex account dynamics and accelerate adoption of SERB therapies.
  • Partner effectively with Marketing, Medical Affairs, Commercial Development, Value & Access, Legal, Regulatory, Compliance, and Commercial Operations to execute integrated customer engagement strategies.
  • Influence and align diverse cross-functional stakeholders to achieve business objectives, often without direct authority, while balancing competing priorities and organizational needs.
  • Provide actionable market intelligence and customer insights to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Lead regional readiness and execution activities supporting future product launches, lifecycle management initiatives, and strategic portfolio expansion opportunities.
  • Champion a One SERB approach by fostering strong cross-functional relationships and collaboration.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and applicable laws.
  • Maintain the highest standards of ethics, integrity, and professionalism.
  • Utilize business analytics, CRM systems, and performance metrics to drive decision-making and optimize execution.
  • Monitor program effectiveness and return on investment to ensure efficient use of resources.
