About The Position

CAM HVAC, a Crete United company, is seeking a skilled Commercial Refrigeration Technician to service, maintain, and install commercial refrigeration systems. Work is primarily at wastewater plants, plants, and schools in Massachusetts. All work is prevailing-wage work in the Massachusetts public sector. The role requires strong technical knowledge, a Massachusetts refrigeration license, and a commitment to safety and compliance with industry regulations.

Requirements

Massachusetts refrigeration license.
3–5 years of experience in commercial refrigeration.
Proficiency in reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
Familiarity with OSHA safety protocols and walk-in cooler design standards.
Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and clean background.

Nice To Haves

Experience with energy-efficient systems and environmentally friendly refrigerants.
Knowledge of building codes and refrigeration regulations.
Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple service calls.

Responsibilities

Install and service commercial refrigeration systems.
Conduct site assessments and ensure proper system placement, electrical connections, and insulation.
Configure control systems and verify operational efficiency.
Perform routine maintenance, including cleaning coils, replacing filters, inspecting electrical components, and checking refrigerant levels.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues.
Respond to emergency service calls and troubleshoot system failures.
Follow OSHA, NSF/ANSI 7, and EPA Section 608 standards.
Handle refrigerants safely and legally, including recovery, recycling, and disposal.
Maintain accurate service records and documentation for regulatory compliance.
Communicate with clients about system performance, repairs, and energy efficiency.
Recommend upgrades or preventive maintenance.
