Refrigeration & Plumbing Supervisor
About The Position
The Refrigeration & Plumbing Supervisor provides leadership for the daily operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the facility's refrigeration and plumbing systems. This role leads a team of skilled technicians, ensuring preventative maintenance programs are executed safely and effectively while supporting production reliability, food safety, and regulatory compliance. Success in this role requires balancing hands-on technical expertise with strong people leadership. The Refrigeration & Plumbing Supervisor develops technicians, drives accountability, leads troubleshooting efforts, and partners cross-functionally to improve equipment reliability and operational performance.
Requirements
- 2–3 years of supervisory experience in industrial refrigeration (ammonia/Freon) and plumbing.
- Strong knowledge of industrial refrigeration systems.
- RETA Certification or willingness to obtain with company support.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong leadership and coaching skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Proven problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Technician-first, hands-on leadership approach.
- Continuous improvement mindset with experience in Lean and 5S principles.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure while maintaining accountability and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, coach, and develop refrigeration and plumbing technicians.
- Plan, assign, and oversee preventative maintenance and corrective work orders.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and food safety regulations.
- Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis during equipment failures.
- Coordinate daily work priorities and labor allocation.
- Facilitate team meetings, performance discussions, and technical training.
- Manage contractor and vendor relationships for refrigeration and plumbing projects.
- Monitor department KPIs and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Develop and improve standard operating procedures and maintenance practices.
- Support audits and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Recommend capital improvements to enhance system reliability and efficiency.
