About The Position

Refrigeration maintenance personnel are responsible for documenting readings for all ammonia systems, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, re-circulators, piping, and associated equipment. This role requires the ability to follow both written and oral instructions. In addition to ammonia systems, the position involves forklift preventative maintenance/repair and other assigned duties. Daily inspections of equipment and mandatory checks multiple times a day are expected. Regular visual inspection of assigned equipment on the roof and within the plant is necessary, with prompt reporting of any ammonia issues to the supervisor. The role demands developing a thorough knowledge of facility layout, tools, parts, and equipment, while maintaining and monitoring ammonia refrigeration equipment within safety standards for the entire facility. Good math, reading, and writing skills are essential for monitoring equipment and recording data. Membership in the HAZMAT Team is required. This position involves working both inside and outside the facility as directed, with potential exposure to weather elements, wet floors, humidity, noise, and cramped working quarters.

Requirements

  • 6 months Industrial refrigeration experience and/or experience in HVAC required.
  • Must be able to wear required personnel protection equipment to include Air Purifying Respirators which requires a medical physical and clearance to wear APR.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work 12-hour shift.
  • 180 days wait period from last termination date.
  • 3X rule (candidates cannot have worked for Tyson 3X before).

Nice To Haves

  • General maintenance in welding, electrical, and hydraulics preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Documenting the readings for all the ammonia systems including compressors, condensers, evaporators, re-circulators, and any piping and associated equipment.
  • Performing Forklift preventative maintenance/repair.
  • Performing any other duties as assigned.
  • Performing daily inspections on the equipment and performing mandatory checks multiple times a day.
  • Visually inspecting all assigned equipment on the roof and within the plant regularly.
  • Reporting any ammonia issues to the supervisor.
  • Developing a thorough knowledge of facility layout, tools, parts and equipment.
  • Maintaining and monitoring the ammonia refrigeration equipment within safety standards for the entire facility.
  • Being a member of the HAZMAT Team.
  • Working inside and outside of facility as directed.
  • Working in hot outside temperatures of 118 degrees to cold temperatures of -10 degrees inside the freezer.
  • Being on your feet and working on hard surfaces like concrete all day.
