Refrigeration/Boiler Tech - 3rd Shift - Melrose, MN
About The Position
Legacy Turkey is hiring a full-time, benefits-eligible Refrigeration/Boiler Tech for the third shift at its Melrose, Minnesota facility. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., with weekends as needed. The pay range is $24.00–$28.00 per hour. The technician operates and maintains plant systems, including HVAC, boilers, refrigeration, air compressors, and hot water systems, in accordance with applicable agency requirements. The role includes completing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and maintaining equipment, and working independently and collaboratively. The position requires scheduled weekend and/or holiday availability and participation on the Hazwoper team, including the ability to pass an SCBA physical. Candidates without a High Pressure Boiler Special License must obtain a Special High Pressure Minnesota boiler license within six months of hiring. The facility generally operates around 40°F, with variation by process. As a harvesting facility, certain natural byproducts may be visible. Work includes repetitive movements, standing on concrete floors for 8–10 hours, and lifting. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, authorized to work in the United States for any employer, and must not now or in the future require employer sponsorship for a work visa.
Requirements
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- Be able to pass an SCBA physical as a Hazwoper team member.
- Have a High Pressure Boiler Special License, or obtain a Special High Pressure Minnesota boiler license within six months of hiring.
- Experience troubleshooting and maintaining ammonia equipment, air compressors, hot water systems, HVAC, and boiler room equipment.
- Be able to work scheduled weekends and/or holidays.
- Able to lift up to 40 pounds.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Authorized to work in the United States for any employer and must not now or in the future require employer sponsorship for a work visa.
Nice To Haves
- Five years’ experience working with and on refrigeration systems and equipment.
- Second- or First-Class high pressure Minnesota boiler license.
- CIRA/CIRO certified.
Responsibilities
- Operate plant equipment safely and efficiently, including HVAC, boilers, refrigeration, air compressors, and hot water systems, in accordance with OSHA, EPA, UAR, and other agencies.
- Complete preventive maintenance (PMs) in a timely manner.
- Troubleshoot and maintain ammonia equipment, air compressors, hot water systems, HVAC, and boiler room equipment.
- Work independently and with others.
- Participate as a member of the Hazwoper team.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
