About The Position

Lowcountry Oncology Associates is seeking a Referral Coordinator / Front Desk Receptionist to join their team. This role is crucial for managing the referral process and providing front desk support to ensure smooth daily operations. The position requires adaptability, strong organizational skills, and a team-oriented mindset, with the ability to travel between office locations. OneOncology, the parent organization, aims to drive the future of cancer care through a patient-centric, physician-driven, and technology-powered model.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience as a medical front desk receptionist required
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience handling referrals in a healthcare setting required
  • Experience working with hospital and specialty portals (e.g., EPIC, HCA, East Cooper, etc.) strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with insurance requirements, authorizations, and EMR systems
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between locations

Responsibilities

  • Manage and process all outgoing referrals in a timely and accurate manner
  • Coordinate imaging referrals, including obtaining prior authorizations when required
  • Compile and verify all necessary clinical documentation (office notes, labs, imaging, etc.) prior to submission
  • Upload, organize, and maintain referral documentation within the EMR
  • Track referral status and follow through to completion to ensure continuity of care
  • Communicate effectively with external providers, imaging centers, and specialty offices
  • Ensure all referral processes meet compliance and documentation standards
  • Provide coverage for front desk operations during high-volume periods, staff absences, or operational needs
  • Perform patient check-in and check-out procedures, including verification of demographics and insurance
  • Manage incoming calls, scheduling, and patient inquiries
  • Assist with patient paperwork and front office documentation requirements
  • Maintain a professional, efficient, and patient-focused front desk environment
  • Travel to satellite locations as needed to support staffing and maintain workflow continuity
  • Assist with overall office operations to ensure efficiency across all clinic locations
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to support patient care delivery
