About The Position

Scotland Health Care System is seeking a dedicated Referral Clerk to join their SCMG Scotland Physician Network Administration team. This full-time position operates on the 1st shift and is based in Laurinburg, North Carolina. The Referral Clerk will be responsible for managing patient referrals, ensuring accurate documentation, scheduling appointments, and coordinating with medical providers to facilitate timely and effective patient care. This role is crucial in maintaining the smooth operation of the referral process within the Scotland Physicians Network.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma Or Equivalency (Ged)
  • Previous Medical Office Experience Preferred.
  • Associate Degree In Healthcare Administration Or Equivalent College Coursework Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Be competent in most recent version of Referral standard work. Keep in work area to reference.
  • Participate in monthly meeting to discuss workflow opportunities.
  • Participate in data for “Referral “ update for SPN Medical providers. Report to leader and keep he/she updated on referral delays / barriers to be passed on to providers.
  • Keep work area neat and clean.
  • Assist in securing area at the end of the day, ensuring that all doors are locked, and lights/office equipment are turned off.
  • Make referral appointments for patients as directed, providing the patient with all pertinent information needed regarding the referral per standard work.
  • Participate in reporting as directed by leader.
  • Maintain referral work ques to standard or communicate to supervisor if standards not met.
  • Correct Referral Orders.
  • Update/ manage referrals in the Needs Authorization, Needs scheduling, and close loop work ques.
  • Schedule and manage Incoming Referrals by standard work to include referrals that cannot be completed due to patient barriers.
  • Complete Prior Authorizations as required.
  • Adhere to standard work for STAT, URGENT and ROUTINE referrals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
